On the 10th of May, the TY Mock Trials class went to the Criminal Courts of Justice for the National Mock Trials Competition. Every year, schools around Ireland go and take part in this competition.
When we arrived, they brought the students and teachers into the Jury Room where the barristers gave a speech and gave us a run-through for the entire day. Throughout the day, we competed in three rounds.
Our first case was John O’ Shea vs. The People where we were the prosecution. After a tough legal battle, we unfortunately lost. The second case was the Shaun Malloy Case, and we were the prosecution. Again, we did not win the case, but we still enjoyed being a part of the competition! The last case we did was the John O’Shea vs. The People, however, we were the defence. This time around finally we got what we deserved. All our demanding work paid off and we won.
It was such an amazing day we had so much fun. But we could not have done it without our amazing teacher Ms. Phelan. If we did not have her there would be no Mack trials class. A huge thank you to the 5th years that completed last year for their help and ideas during our preparing of the cases.
