Lourdes Lunch is BACK

in News

The “Lourdes Lunch” is a long-standing tradition that, like many others, had to be shelved during Covid.  Well – it’s back! Four students will represent the school at the Youth Pilgrimage to Lourdes in September. For five days they, together with students from other schools, will work hard making sure that the Pilgrims are safe and happy and that they get as much out of the Pilgrimage as possible. It is demanding work, both physically and emotionally.

Every year, some 5th Year students are selected to represent the school by working at the Diocesan Pilgrimage to Lourdes in September.  The whole of 5th Year supports this initiative and funds are raised to help defray costs.  Two initiatives arranged by 5th Year are “Blue Day” (where all students and staff wear something blue and donate €2) and the “Lourdes Lunch”.  After an absence of a few years due to the global pandemic, the “Lourdes Lunch” made a comeback this year!  5th Years revived this long-standing Loreto Beaufort tradition and arranged a lunch for school staff who, in turn, make generous donations in return for the fabulous spread.  A total of €740 was raised!  Sincere thanks to all students and staff for their support.

Well done and thank you to all who cooked, baked and served such a delicious lunch. The staff really enjoyed it.

Thanks to Siobhán and to the Home Ec. Department for their support.

Ms. Fiona O’Dwyer, Chaplain
