October is Dyslexia awareness month and this week marks International Dyslexia Awareness week on Saturday 8th October. Just like the last couple of years we will continue to celebrate this by increasing awareness of the power of Dyslexia as a learning difference and focusing on the strengths and positives that Dyslexia brings. The students are increasingly interested in being a part of this and we will be using our student voice as much as possible.
This year we will have a variety of student led awareness campaigns throughout the next few weeks.
Some of the campaigns we will have:
- Posters
- Announcements on the Intercom – the student voice
- Teacher workshop on Dyslexia Awareness
- We are creating a video of the student voice “My Dyslexia and Me” throughout October that we will share
- An interactive board for students to rethink dyslexia
- Resources and Info for staff
- Class Discussions
- Peer Learning on Dyslexia Awareness
