Our TY students have just returned from the ‘Rhineland Tour’, a beautiful trip over four days visiting both the capital of Belgium and travelling within Germany. We started with a guided tour of Brussels, taking in both the sites of the centre and the outskirts of town, seeing palaces and the famous Atomium. There was also time to sample the well-known Belgian waffles with cream! The next day we visited a castle outside the German city of Koblenz, followed by a cable car trip across the river Rhine and a tour of the fortress grounds high above the town. In the evening time we went bowling and enjoyed other games in a Leisure Centre near our hotel. On Monday we travelled on to Cologne to go on a cruise on the Rhine, followed by a long break used for lunch and exploring the pedestrian shopping area of the town next to its huge cathedral. In the afternoon it was time for a group visit to the Chocolate Museum to experience how the tasty Lindt chocolate is made. Our last day we spent in the theme park of Phantasialand, with plenty of roller coasters, other rides and shows to choose from, which was enjoyed by all, before it was time to fly back from Düsseldorf Airport. Apart from all the places we saw, picking up some of the German language, a lovely modern double decker coach bringing us to all destinations and beautiful sunny weather made the trip an unforgettable experience. Gute Reise!
