Celebrating Ireland’s pledge to support Global Partnership for Education: Event with Minister Brophy

in News

Well done to our four TY students who are involved in JPIC on representing the school at the zoom event today with Minister Colm Brophy. They posed excellent questions to the Minister and got a great response.

They asked the following questions to the Minister.

Kate O’Grady:

1. How will the aid be divided between different countries and which countries will be receiving the most money?
Kate Mander:
2. Girls education is a huge issue in many developing nations – will some of the funds be going towards girls education specifically, eg. Our Sister School in Rumbek?
Laura McGrath:
3. When do you think we will begin to see the impacts of the aid- will it be immediate or take many years?
Martha McDonnell:

4. What form will the aid take, for example, school supplies or transportation for children to make access to schools easier?

The event was organised in conjunction with WorldWise Global Schools, Irish Aid and Global Partnership in Education.

Cork Educate Together gave a wonderful presentation on ‘Climate Justice’ and John Scottus Secondary School presented on ‘Gender Inequality in the Developing World’. Gemma Hayes introduced her newly commissioned song ‘Raise her up’.

Thank you to the MC, Moira Leydon for organising the event.
