Message from the Principal

Welcome to our Loreto High School website. We are delighted to have the opportunity to introduce you to our school and to share our ethos and aspirations with you.

Principal – Margaret O’Donoghue

We belong to a great Loreto tradition and community. In Ireland there are 25 Loreto schools and internationally there are approximately 150 schools and 70,000 students, spread over five continents. Each school shares a common ethos, based on the core values of our foundress, Mary Ward (1585-1645), who championed the education of women. Justice, freedom, sincerity, truth and joy are the foundation of the spirituality of our Catholic school and the Gospel values permeate through all school activities. We have also developed a strong Beaufort tradition, as our school was founded in 1925 and has engendered a school spirit based on respect and a caring community.

Our aim is to provide a holistic education and to develop the personal best of each student in every sphere; spiritually, intellectually, morally, physically and socially. We do strive to help our students do their best academically and our results are consistently very strong, but a Beaufort education is not just about academic performance. We have a committed team of teachers and support staff who provide a wide range of extra-curricular activities and encourage social justice.

Over the six year programme, our students have the opportunity to participate in sport, drama, debating and music. We encourage an interest in the environment and active volunteering to help those less fortunate than themselves. We want our girls to leave us as young women, equipped for the modern world, well rounded and ready to embrace adult life.

I hope you enjoy visiting our website and it gives you a real sense of what we offer. With the Deputy Principal Francis Carolan, I hope to lead the school further towards achieving the goal of helping each pupil fulfill her potential. If you would like any further information, please do not hesitate to contact us.
