JPIC Carlingford trip with Concern

On the 12th and 13th of March I and 6 other JPIC members went to Carlingford adventure centre with Concern on a team bonding trip. We did the Crystal maze which was a series of outdoor team bonding activities with students from other schools, this was my favorite part of the trip. We learnt about Ibrahim Halawa an Irish citizen wrongfully in prisoned in Egypt for four years and who just recently got out. We did a scavenger hunt where the answers were members of different parties in the Dáil Éireann, of which our team won. In the evening we did a general knowledge quiz where our team became very competitive and fortunately  we won! That night we relaxed by watching the Book Thief. The next day we had a discussion about refugees and made a video to raise awareness. We then presented our PowerPoint about all the work, we in JPIC have done this year and what we plan to do in the future. Listening to the other groups present gave us ideas for future JPIC days. Overall I think we all enjoyed the trip, we got closer as a group, became more confident in speaking to groups, got ideas for future JPIC days and expanded our knowledge on various social justice issues. After Easter we will be doing a day based on the outcomes of war and another day on disability so keep an eye out!
