ASTI Industrial Action

in News

Talks between the ASTI and the Department of Education and Skills are ongoing and the Board of Management hopes for a full resolution as soon as possible so that normal school business may continue. Please keep an eye on national media for word on any national breakthrough. We will communicate any change to parents by iflow text message as soon as we hear any update.

There are two elements to the current industrial action:

Firstly, the ASTI has announced a series of one-day strikes on the following dates:

Thursday 27th October (has happened already)

Tuesday 8th November

Wednesday 16th November

Thursday 24th November

Tuesday 29th November

Tuesday 6th December

Wednesday 7th December

Secondly, the ASTI has announced the withdrawal of its members from supervision and substitution work, while remaining available for teaching duties. This is to commence from Monday 7th November onwards. The Board has decided that from Monday 7th November we will not be in a position to re-open the school for the safety, health and welfare of students. There has been insufficient time to put in place appropriate contingency arrangements, including selection, training and garda vetting etc

We apologise most sincerely for the disruption caused and hope that a resolution is imminent.
