On Wednesday morning next, the 7th. of September, five of our 6th. year students, Laura MacSharry, Niamh Devenney, Clare Leyden Daly, Aideen Boyle and Roisin O’Hanlon, accompanied by myself, Mrs. O’Reilly, will travel as volunteers on the Dublin Diocesan pilgrimage to Lourdes. The girls have been preparing for this through fundraising, meetings with other schools who are also travelling and prayer, and we are good to go!
There is a great tradition of Beaufort girls volunteering in Lourdes and each year the number of past pupils returning and giving of their time and energy is increasing. This year’s group are very much looking forward to meeting up with our past students who always look out for the newbies!
We will of course remember all the Beaufort community in our prayers and we will light a candle for you all. There is a box at reception if anyone wishes to send a petition and we will place these at the grotto when we arrive. Please do not put any money in these petitions as they are burned at the end of each day. Watch out for our blog where we will keep you updated on what’s happening each day.
