Two months ago we gathered as a school community to prepare for and celebrate the birth of Christ. Today, Ash Wednesday, we gather again to mark the season of Lent, a period given to us to prepare for the death and resurrection of Jesus.
Lent is a journey of faith, a time for reconciliation and a call to conversation. It is a time for prayer, almsgiving and fasting. Today we bless ashes and distribute them to our students. We wear these ashes on our foreheads as an outward sign of our willingness to:
– change
– to deepen our relationship with God
– to be patient with the difficult things in our lives.
– and to realise that we are nothing without God
In God we live and move and have our life
