Lourdes Blog: Day 5: The End of An Era

in News

Our final day was one to be remembered – emotional and touching. We had the opportunity to bring some of our pilgrims shopping in the town. They couldn’t contain their excitement and this brought a huge smile to all our faces.

The farewell mass, celebrated by the archbishop, was a bittersweet service. The mass was beautiful and heartfelt but we were emotional on coming to the end of our journey.
A rooftop party was in full swing after dinner. There was dancing, singing, comedy and even some gymnastics from the pilgrims! It was a night full of laughter and an amazing way to end our time with the pilgrims.
At Prairie this evening, we gave thanks for an incredible week full of smiles, joy, tears and love. It was our favourite prairie so far, however we were sad to part with our fellow blueshirts.
We shared a really special moment with Ms O’Reilly on the roof of our hotel tonight. We reminisced over the week and all the new experiences we shared. It was the perfect end to a truly fulfilling week!
People have told us for years how amazing Lourdes is. It is true to say that you really can’t comprehend what people mean until you visit it yourself. The community spirit and teamwork of everyone involved is a memory to cherish.  We really hope to be back again next year!
Thank you so much to Mrs O’Reilly for being like a mum to us for the week. Our time in Lourdes would not have been the same without you.
Thank you so much for tuning into our blog. We loved sharing our experiences with you. We can all agree that Lourdes was a life changing experience and one to never be forgotten.

Aoife, Sophie, Emma, Sarah, Kate, Jordan and Mrs O’Reilly
