School council meeting 8

• Niamh opened the meeting with the school prayer
• Rua read out the minutes from the previous meeting
• Rua spoke of the proposal for Autism Day. It will take place on the Student Council Awareness Day. There will be blue noises available for €2 each and there will be a speaker at the open council meeting. The main aim of the Autism Day is to spread awareness and embrace difference.
• 4th and 5th year council reps will have a meeting on Monday regarding the artwork for Autism/Student council awareness day.
• A fifth year student has offered to speak openly about her experience with autism to staff members and senior prefects. Chloe Murphy will also speak of her brother’s experience with autism.
• The council members who attended the Cycle Against Suicide campaign in the RDS, spoke openly to the council about their experiences and what they learnt.
• Niamh informed the council about the staff meeting where Sr.Bridget spoke about Loreto Rumbek in south Sudan and the work in progress.

• Permission for 4th and 5th years to get privileges to go outside the school for lunch.
• Sick bay – blankets need to be washed and its very cold (lack of heating)
• Complaints about the water taps
• The supervision room toilets are in a poor state
• Request for breakfast rolls in the shop
• Too much homework for 3rd years
