The Parents Association had a guest speaker Dr Therese Thornton at their AGM on October 7th. Dr Thornton is a psychiatrist in Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital, Crumlin and spoke for about an hour about helping adolescents manage their emotions. She talked about learning to manage both stress and anger and how parents can help young people access help and support and become more resilient. Several parents requested a copy of her list of useful resources and these are available here: parents assoc resources. We had an excellent attendance and the talk gave everybody much food for thought and insight into the teenager. Our thanks to both the Parents Association for organising the talk and for Dr Thornton herself.
