Maths Week Day 2

in News

Fifth Years enjoyed their maths quiz today . Congratulations to Aisling O Leary, Jill Monaghan, Alison Ward and Emma Newe. Here is the solution to Monday’s puzzle. Also you need to get working on Tuesday’s puzzle. Enjoy!

Monday Puzzle Solution

Lets take that the pears sold in the morning are x kg, then in the
afternoon the pears sold 2x kg.
Their sum x + 2x = 3x kg is the whole quantity of pears sold, 360 kg. So we get the following equation
3x = 360 <=> x = 360/3 <=> x = 120
Therefore in the morning they sold 120 kg pears, and in the afternoon 2×120 = 240 kg
