Water Walk: TY

in News, TY News

On Monday the 30th of April, the transition year students took part in the ‘walk for water’ fundraising walk, run by an organisation called Aidlink. Aidlink focuses on raising awareness and raising funds so that developing countries can have cleaner water and closer water facilities instead of having to walk for miles to get water for their homes. Many of the people forced to do this are girls our own age. Ms Ferris, who is a parent of a girl in our year was the key organiser in this event. On monday afternoon we set off from the school, in the rain on our trek. Each of us carried a bucket full of water. We walked up to Marley park, around the park and then back to the school again. In total it was a distance of 6km. We all tried to raise awareness as best as possible by showing people what organistaion we were supporting, by wearing aidlink t- shirts. Everyone did really well and we were all more than happy to support the cause. Thank you to the parents, staff members and t-shirt wearing dog who joined us too.
