First day in Lourdes
Our first few hours in Lourdes have been enjoyable and eventful. We have already got a real feel for the town and Im certain that we are all looking forward to the next few days and preparing ourselves for the hard work that is ahead of us.
After dinner this evening, we visited the Grotto and witnessed the most amazing candle light procession. Although the past sixth years had described them to us before, nothing could have prepared us for the sight of thousands processing in the dark with candles.
We saw last years sixth years on our way to Night Prayer and they were looking very smart in their white shirt hand maids outfits. At the night prayer, several schools stood up to perform their night prayer. Most schools sang and played instruments, while others read reflections. The theme of the night prayer was hopes for the pilgrimage, we all wrote our hopes on a piece of paper.
Hannah Taylor, Fiona Tynan, Danielle Murray and Niamh Sexton visited us in the hotel last night, we were all very proud of them. The Loreto Beaufort tradition in Lourdes is developing, we are all so proud! Ms. Donohue is very happy and proud of us all.
