5th Years volunteer to take part in the Dublin Diocesan Pilgrimage to Lourdes

in News

This year fifth years were given the opportunity to travel to Lourdes on pilgrimage from the 7th to the 12th of September 2010.

This opportunity is coordinated by school Chaplain, Ms. Niamh Donohue. The pilgrimage is in association with the Dublin diocese and the girls will be looking after the sick and elderly patients in Lourdes. A large number of girls filled in application forms, and 8 were selected for interview. Five pupils were selected from an external interview board and are now undergoing preparations. The girls that were chosen are : Rebecca Hearns, Danielle Murray, Fiona Tynan, Niamh Sexton and Hannah Taylor.

The Beaufort community are very proud of these girls who have committed to take time out of their lives for the vulnerable in our society. We had our first meeting on Monday evening in Belvedere College- there was a great buzz and it was great to meet the other schools who are participating. The Loreto schools were well represented!

This Thursday we will be having our first fundraiser for the Pilgrimage.

We will be hosting a non-uniform day where each pupil will contribute €2. Thank you for supporting the cause.
