Green Travel Campaign
Call to action – cycle – Stop Climate Change
Dear Parents,
We are four 2nd year students who have made it to the final of ‘The Power of One, One Good Idea’ competition in Dublin Castle on the 6th of May.
We have been campaigning for students to cycle to school, as it is a green way to travel.
We will have a ‘Cycle to School Week’ starting 26th April – 29th April.
Prizes will be won, CO2 and €uro will be saved.
We will visit the 6th class of Loreto National School during this week and give a workshop on Stopping Climate Change and Cycling.
Please help us by encouraging your child to cycle/walk to school.
We really appreciate your help and understanding. We know it can be difficult to change habits but little be little we hope we can all make a difference towards reducing C02 emissions.
We hope that the drivers can help us too by keeping the cycle lanes unblocked and thus making the Grange Road safer for all road users. The information leaflet attached below has an alternative dropping points map. Please do not break the rules of the road as the Garda have again been informed and will be patrolling the area.
Please read our information leaflet –Cycle To School Week
All pupils must wear a helmet when cycling. We have also got permission from Ms. Cogan to allow cyclists to wear their school tracksuit bottoms when cycling to school for this week only but they must change into correct uniform (skirt, shoes, socks) when they get into school. This is a test run so pupils will be monitored.
We thank you for your continued support.
