Thank you to our wonderful Student Council of 2012 and to Ms. Dunne for her guidance and support. Your hard work and dedication to the students of Beaufort has made 2012 a great year. Congratulations to our new head girl and vice head girls and to the new senior prefects. We look forward to the coming academic year 2012/2013.

5th Yr Fashion Night a great success

Fifth Year students, led by Maeve Walsh, hosted a great and successful fundraising event in aid of Canteen Cancer Ireland. This is the only charity in Ireland that specifically targets teenage victims of Cancer. It was held on Friday the 20th of April in the hall. The evening involved fashion tips, correct colours for skin tones, make-up tutorials, a huge raffle, goody-bags and much more. Many thanks to Style Consultant Catherine Byrne and of course Ms. Curtis for all her help. An astounding €5540 was raised!

The Sixth Years very graciously took some time out this week to prepare coffee, tea and an unbelievable amount of delicious cakes for the teaching staff. Thank you very much Sixth Years for your generosity. The baked blueberry cheese cake was to die for! The staff very much enjoyed your party bags of goodies and the warm welcome you gave to each of us as we arrived!

Water Walk: TY

On Monday the 30^th of April, the transition year students took part in the ‘walk for water’ fundraising walk, run by an organisation called Aidlink. Aidlink focuses on raising awareness and raising funds so that developing countries can have cleaner water and closer water facilities instead of having to walk for miles to get water for their homes. Many of the people forced to do this are girls our own age. Ms Ferris, who is a parent of a girl in our year was the key organiser in this event. On monday afternoon we set off from the school, in the rain on our trek. Each of us carried a bucket full of water. We walked up to Marley park, around the park and then back to the school again.In total it was a distance of 6km. We all tried to raise awareness as best as possible by showing people what organistaion we were supporting, by wearing aidlink t- shirts. Everyone did really well and we were all more than happy to support the cause. Thank you to the parents, staff members and t-shirt wearing dog who joined us too.

Eco Unesco Group make Mansion House Final

Eight students in 4th year have been involved in ECO UNESCO activities throughout this year. They displayed their project of the handmade Eco Boat at reception in February with the catchy slogan ‘Recycle or sink in a sea of waste’. They have been successfully selected from schools all over Ireland to compete with the top 60 remaining schools in the Youth Environmentalist Awards on the 8th of May in the Mansion House. Thank you to Ms. O’Neill for her guidance and support and Best of luck at the final girls!

Sports Day 2012

Sports Day in Beaufort was once again a riot of fun and colour. The weather was fine and the rain of the preceding days was only a faint memory. What a relief. The costumes and the colour were better than ever. The year groups really embraced their colours and even the teachers looked pretty good. The brilliant inflatable bouncy castles, slides and stuff was as usual a great hit. The Parents Association Raffle which took place at the end of the Sports Day gave the whole event a suitably celebratory air. Well done to everyone.
