Work of Student Council 2010
So far this year the Student Council have been very active and productive. We began in September by electing new officers: two Treasurers, three PROs, a school photographer, an attendance officer, a team to decorate the notice board, an assistant secretary and a deputy chairperson.
The council supported the Senior Prefects in the organising and running of the school talent show at the end of October. It was a huge success and was enjoyed by all.
This year we are continuing to fundraise for our sister school in Loreto Matunda. We sold lollipops in school at lunchtime in aid of Loreto Matunda. The Senior Prefects along with the Student Council organised carol-singing in December and raised over €2,000 for this worthy cause. All the class prefects got involved and encouraged their classes to participate. We are organising a church-gate collection for Matunda which will take place in March.
At the moment the council is focusing on organising our annual School Spirit Week, which will run from March 15th-19th. This week is looked forward to every year and the council will organise various events during the week, including Raidió Beaufort, the Céilí Mór, the student-teacher football match and many more.
We are currently re-evaluating the structure of the school council and the roles of its members, in an attempt to make it more efficient and pro-active in serving the needs of the student body.
